Mountain Lions usually hunt at dusk and at dawn. They are ambush hunters, and they stalk their prey by waiting it out and then suddenly attacking it. Pumas prey on deer, pigs, capybaras, raccoons, armadillos, hares, and squirrels, and they prefer not to encounter people.
